Surrender to Love

It feels like a perfect moment to write about surrender.

There is so much confusion about this topic. On the surface, surrender seems like giving up, giving in and being lazy. It seems like a passive and weak approach to life. In war, to surrender it means to give up and let the enemy win.

But – from a Spiritual point of view surrender is one of the greatest tools in your toolbox.

Let’s define surrender before we take another step. To surrender means to “submit or to yield”. So with that in mind, it’s vital to understand WHAT we are surrendering to. If you surrender to fear, or to anger, or to low self-esteem, then you are letting that force run you. You are giving up and giving into energies that don’t serve your Greatest Good. In war, to submit to an enemy that is threatening to kill your family is also not a good idea. These kinds of surrender I’m not talking about.

I’m talking about something much greater, grander and more meaningful than negative energy, and if we all cultivated the kind of surrender, there would be no “enemy” because we would realize we are all brothers and sisters floating through space on the same rock with limited resources.

The kind of surrender I’m talking about is surrender with a capital S. To Surrender is to Surrender to Love. Love is the Energy that creates our Journey. This Energy is kind, creative and knows us FAR better than we do. This Energy of Love gave you gifts, talents and a purpose. So when you Surrender (capital S), you do not surrender to human beings (who are fallible), nor do you submit to a negative thought pattern.

When you Surrender you give up the control of your life to an Energy that will guide you perfectly. When you Surrender to the Energy of Love, you let go and let yourself be lived by It. Faith in this process is the soil in which you will flourish. This is no different than a seed being firmly planted in the right soil and watered. You are the seed, Faith is the soil and Love is what grows you. The seed effortlessly grows into its fullest expression, not by force, but with ease.

If you’re having a hard time believing that a kind, wise, loving and compassionate Energy created This Journey, I’m going to ask you to do an experiment. Try. Try for 30 days to let go and let Love guide you. Not romantic love, not emotional love and not your love of cookies – I’m talking about Love with a capital L, that Creative Energy that made us all. Surrender (capital S), to Love, give IN to it… Let It guide you.

When you do this, all the illusions of your life that does not resonate with Love will burst. It may seem like your world is turning upside down – totally normal. It’s kind of like waking up from The Matrix. You’re gunna see things all kinds of differently. Just stick with it.

If you have problems, worries, or desires, just hand them over to Love. Lay them down at the feet of Love and stop trying to solve your problems with your mind. Give Love room to step in and help guide you. When you do this, you will be led to the strangest and most beautiful of places. Some people will leave your life; new ones will come. You may be fired, or feel called to quit your job. You may realize you are not in a Loving relationship. Whatever it may be, whatever you feel Love is guiding you to do, jump in.

Faith in yourself and in Love pays massive dividends. We are energetic beings and Love is the Highest Energy on This Journey. Some people say that Love doesn’t pay the bills, but I call bullshit. When you do what you Love, you will go through a phase of trials, but at the end of that process, if you stick with it, you WILL be rewarded not only with a greater sense of purpose and accomplishment, but with financial reward. Love protects anyone who pursues Love and welcomes Love in his or her life.

People change, the economy changes and life can be confusing – but Love never changes.

Surrender to Love; give it a try for 30 days and let me know what happens. Heck, maybe even give it a year. If your way hasn’t worked so far, perhaps this may be a better way.

Helping Live Your Dreams

When it comes to personal growth, there are so many topics, ideas, systems, thoughts and paths to choose. Eventually, they will all lead back to this one Truth: what you are seeking is within you.

In my life, I have had three major revelations that have helped me step out of thoughts of fear and lack and step into a life of greater & greater abundance.

Here they are:

1. Your Path will support you in manifesting your Purpose because It created you to do so.

2. Love is where you come from and It is your birthright. It is a basic principle to Love your Creator, Love yourself and Love your fellow beings with the same Love that you have for yourself.

3. Things always workout for the best.

By slowly realizing these principles above, my life has gone from itty-bitty tiny to huge.

If it’s true that the Path will support me in my purpose, then that means any thoughts I have and actions I do that are not aligned with my purpose are actually making my life harder, more stressful and less full. All those fearful thoughts of lack, all those doubting thoughts about whether I will be taken care of or not, have never proved to be true. What I had to do was sacrifice my ego’s desires and let go of any past identity of what I thought I “deserved” and instead, accept the gifts of my journey. From fragile beginnings the roots of my journey have begun to support a stronger hold on Life.

This will be the same for you. You WILL be supported, not in the way that you want to be, but in the way that you NEED to be.

If it’s true that Love is where you came from and that you gotta love your fellow beings the way you love yourself, it’s important that you love yourself; because if you hate yourself, then that means you’ll hate your neighbors, too. So it’s vitally important that you get to work on loving you. Eventually as you grow in the Love for yourself, you will be more and more full, and be able to share that love with others.

If you believe that things always work out for the best, then this will give you an empowered point of view through which to interpret the events of your life. When things go “wrong”, you’ll know it’s for the best and then make the best of it. This point of view is sooooo important to incorporate into your life. If you do, you will be able to overcome any challenge. And challenges will come on Your Path.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on these principles; they have helped me through good times and bad times. I believe if you incorporate them into your life, they will help you live your dreams, too.

Removing the word SHOULD….

It’s so important to put the loving first.

Love of yourself and then love of others. People can feel your loving most, not with words, but with actions and presence.

Instead of trying to correct, change or otherwise influence those you love, just meet them where they are, right now, and love them there.

This includes you. Meet yourself where you are. If there is anything you want to change about yourself, first accept where you are and love it. Acceptance and love of where you are, right now, makes change and transformation much easier. Instead of fighting against a negative self-image, you are embracing a positive self-image. As a result, the process of change and transformation is joyful rather than stressful.

Another way to meet yourself and others where you are is to drop the word “should” from your vocabulary. In truth, there is nothing you should have done differently; there is nothing they should have done differently; there is only reality, your acceptance of it as it is, and a gentle transformation of it moment by moment to a more loving state.

When you should all over yourself & others, you have stepped out of love and into fear.

Nestle into self-love and acceptance of the moment. All good things flow to the humble heart that knows all is well and getting better.

So, in your loving today, don’t love them and yourself if they are only the way you want. Love them and yourself where you are right now. Watch what beauty happens

Define Yourself

In the Western world, we spend more of our time rushing around trying to “accomplish” something. Fill in the blank and we are trying to get it done. Make more money. Lose more weight. Find more love. Finish our to do lists. Have more energy. Get a better job. Have more free time. Love ourselves more. Get to work on time. Get home on time.

Western society is dominated by “achievers”. Nothing wrong with achievers – I myself have an achiever within me. But – like everything, if the achiever is out of balance, LIFE is out of balance.

I have come to believe that you cannot force most of the things in life. Sure you can set goals and achieve them, but I’m talking about something bigger. It’s VERY important to know what you want. If you don’t know what you want it won’t happen.

BUT – if you spend all your time focusing on what you want, and at the same time believing that you are experiencing lack in the not having of it, you are setting yourself up for a lot of pain.

The truth, as I see it, is that you and me, we are already whole. We are children of this JOURNEY and by our very nature are taken care of. If we have a goal to achieve, it’s not because we are lacking anything, but because we choose to experience a different version of fullness.

You can’t do it all by yourself. And chasing what you want from a place of lack will give you results. But if you want BIG RESULTS, BIG LOVE and FREEDOM, I suggest entering into life from fullness.

The uneasiness you feel from going from a perception of lack to a belief in already being full is your work. When you can walk in your own skin and feel like you’ve already arrived and that you are already full – you have arrived to your own power. Until then, surround yourself with people, places and circumstances that promote your fullness and your dreams. Cultivate a positive mindset; work on yourself every day and LET GOT OF RESULTS.

A life of fullness exists today, right now. Your work is to see it, feel it and then act from that place. You will bring even greater fullness into your life when you do.

Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself!!

Don’t Stand Down

In what ways do you make yourself wrong?

I don’t know about you, but there are tons of ways for me to make myself wrong.

No matter how hard I try, even when my intentions are pure, I am queen of making myself wrong when my actions don’t please someone else. Even when in my heart I know my actions are pure, when someone really disagrees with me, or my actions cause someone else to react in anger, I’ve immediately toned down what I was saying. I also tend to apologize, even if I don’t mean it, because I would have rather had peace than friction.

But life is teaching me a different lesson. LIFE is teaching me to not back down because of fear of friction or disagreement. In fact, I’m learning that it is VITAL to hold firm to what you believe in and not back down just because someone else disagrees.

My perception used to be that because I was Seeker on this JOURNEY, that my job was to never ruffle feathers, apologize when “I made” someone angry and in some ways just be a push over because I didn’t want “conflict”. But that view is changing now…

I have come to believe that non-violent friction, non-violent disagreement and challenging the status quo in a non-violent way is actually a great thing. I’ve realized that many of the folks we look up to today, who ushered in massive social and spiritual change, were all very disturbing to the status quo and the stories people were telling about their lives.

Now, I’m not suggesting you be so stubborn as to not leave room for growth or to be so blind to what you believe that you can’t get new information and then change your mind.

But I am suggesting that as Seeker on this JOURNEY the duty is to hold strong to what you believe in, even if it ruffles feathers, even if it disturbs the status quo. That’s what we Seekers do. We are tapped into a truth or a vision that has not yet reached the mainstream. And many times our visions and our ideas can be perceived as a “threat” to the authority of the day. The “authority” could be a controlling and abusive government, or it could be a family member, lover or even just your own fear and ego.

The more I walk on this JOURNEY, the more I see that it’s our job to not stand down because what we say and do challenges the status quo. No, I believe it is our duty to stand up and be firm in our beliefs and that progress, innovation and conscious evolution are brought about by Seekers who didn’t stand down.

Did Rosa Parks stand down? Did MLK stand down? Did Harvey Milk stand down? Did Jesus stand down? Did America’s forefather’s stand down?

And our world is a better place because they didn’t.

Peaceful, non-violent disturbance has pushed the world forward since the beginning of Man. Your job dear Seeker, if you have the courage to accept it, is to not stand down. Hold a space of love, of progress and of unwavering conviction to the truths of your heart.

Don’t stand down.

Embrace Change

When you get into a certain pattern and set of habits, it can be very hard to change.

Sometimes you can be in a negative pattern your whole life and think that that is just how “life is”.

The only way your “life is” is a reflection of your thoughts and habits. Life is not your pattern. Life is whatever you choose it to be. The meaning in life is the meaning you bring TO it.

If you so choose, there is a brand new and totally different reality out there for you to experience. Choose healthy habits; choose more for yourself. Know that a new outcome and experience is possible for you. To experience a new kind of life, first you must change your patterns. The first step to changing your patterns is raising your standards so you can create more for your life. Choose a loving relationship over a toxic one. Choose alkaline food over acidic food. Get off your ass and workout, instead of staying on the couch.

When you raise your standards, you will rise along with them.

Envision a new and better life for YOURSELF and then get to work acting and living “as if”. Challenge your current pattern by introducing new and healthier thoughts, patterns and actions.

Embrace change and get excited when you no longer recognize your life.

My moto has always been to accept change, embrace it and know that you will never become who you want to be by remaining who you are, if you want it fight for it, if you need it, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Something exciting and new is brewing, so get out there!

Just be…

Don’t play small! Stand up! Take Charge!

You are doing yourself and others a disservice by catering your actions towards how you think others will react.

Instead, just be yourself, be exactly as you are. When you are being yourself you will attract everything that is in alignment with who you truly are. You will be shocked to see who drops away.

Their absence will leave a space for new and amazing relationships to enter your life. Just be you, and let everyone else do what they may. You are not what others believe you to be, you are what you know you are and nothing else.

Just be.

You will be rewarded for your courage with a life that reflects your true essence instead of an invented identity created to “please others”.

Awwhhh… doesn’t it feel good to just be!?
